Issue|The elements of designing a natural, vacation-style home

Research shows that nature has significant benefits for health, which is also a core principle advocated by ecological psychology. Drawing from past design examples, we share how to select and incorporate natural elements into a space. By aligning the soft furnishings chosen by the residents with the hard design plans made by the designer, the space can highlight its advantages, achieving a healthy and comfortable vacation-style home design.

Natural Light

Natural light is key to recreating a vacation-like atmosphere at home. To ensure the effective introduction of natural light, the designer established a soft tonal foundation for the space during the early stages of concept development. By eliminating redundant color schemes, the interior was returned to a clean, simple, and breathable feel. Light, thin, and soft fabrics were chosen to allow light to easily permeate every corner. On a daily basis, the interplay of light and shadow creates a lazy, natural beauty, enriching the space with a sense of effortless elegance.

Natural Material

The focus of life is in the details. In terms of layout, we minimized interior partitions and complex lines, opening up the space into a vast activity area, as large as a basketball court. Organic materials and soft elements were used to accentuate the lifestyle details that embody a vacation-like style. Natural stone, wood, bamboo, rattan, and various handwoven items, inspired by coastal concepts, were extended into the practical aspects of daily life, giving the space a simple, organic comfort that enhances the overall atmosphere.

Natural Life

In addition to creating the right style, the incorporation of greenery is also a key strategy in enhancing a vacation home. Indoor plants not only create a fresh and inviting environment with their air-purifying health benefits, but they also provide visual relaxation. Surrounded by the breath of plants, residents can feel a sense of cleansing and growth, offering a natural cycle of rejuvenation and relaxation in daily life.
